Lauren gets sick every.single.time Billy leaves town. This last weekend was no exception. She got a cold that always creates issues with her asthma. I was able to up all her meds (pulmacort, xoponex, little noses, afrin, etc) and keep her off the prednizone for the first time ever (oral steroid = devil = highly emotional non sleeping toddler mess). We just happened to have her 18month follow-up appt with her ENT yesterday. She has a cold with gunk in her nose/throat and drainage in one ear (yea for tubes still working!)…so since we are traveling this Saturday, she went ahead and put Lauren on an antibiotic, antibiotic ear drops, and this other stuff for her nose to clear it up. So hopefully flying isn’t too hard on her on Saturday (we’re going to Destin for a week with grammy/papa)!

The interesting part…I had no idea how much Lauren weighed…with shoes/clothes on, she weighed 29 pounds…so I assume she’ll be 28 pounds in a month at her 3rd birthday. At mom’s suggestion, I got out my baby book to compare our weights…check this out.

It’s interesting that Lauren is following my growth pattern pretty much pound for pound! But I’m only 5′2″ and it appears she might be shorter! eek!

I drop Lauren off at school today and Miss Gina tells me this story that happened yesterday.

Lauren was wearing her sparkly jelly sandals that I’m sure grammy bought her and she lost one on the playground (not sure how?). A little boy found it and brought it to Miss Gina and she pointed out Lauren and asked him to go give it to her…so over to Lauren they go. The little boy asks Lauren if he can put it on for her (how sweet!) and she says yes. He says, “I like your shoes, they’re really sparkly!” and Lauren replies “They’re diamonds”. Miss Gina asks “diamonds?” and Lauren replies, “yes, I have diamonds in my shoes. My mommy buys me diamonds”. In all fairness, we’ve only bought her one diamond so far (necklace from daddy to Lauren on her 2nd birthday)!! What a little diva.

I was really thinking it was going to be a story about a glass slipper and Cinderella when Miss Gina first started telling the story, since that is the only movie that Lauren will watch in the car right now…she must have watched it 10 times in the last few weeks!

Here was a typical conversation from our weekend:

me: Lauren, let’s go get dressed.
Lauren: why?
me: Because it’s time to go to the gym.
Lauren: why?
me: So mommy and daddy can run.
Lauren: why?
me: So mommy and daddy are healthy and have strong muscles.
Lauren: why?
me: So that we can live a long time.
Lauren: why?

She is so serious about the “why”, she’s not doing it to be silly. Sometimes it is funny, but after the 5th “why”, we feel ourselves wanting to give the old standby “because I said so” response. =)
