“What the heck?”
Yes, that would be credit of mommy this morning. oops. But it is hilarious…she’s been practicing it all day and using it appropriately. It’s hard to keep a straight face, so it fuels the fire and she says it over and over and over.
In sad news, Lauren woke-up with a 104.3 degree fever yesterday and was complaining that her back and belly hurt (she’d been complaining of that for a few days) so we took her to the dr. and she has pneumonia. =( It’s the right lower lobe (she had it a year ago and it was left lower lobe), so she’s on 10 days of antibiotics (which she hates and is paying me back for all the medicine I spit all over my parents!). We’ve also been concerned about potential UTI’s, so this morning we had her pee in a cup (and on my hand! eww!) and dropped it off and the dr. called back to say that there was no infection and no blood, but there are trace amounts of protein. She had a UA done a few months ago and it showed infection, and trace amounts of blood and protein but upon testing at the lab showed no infection. So, they want us to retest in a week and if it still shows protein, they’ll send it to the lab for further testing. But honestly, you’d never have known the child had pneumonia, we were at her gymnastics class the night before and she was running/jumping like nothing was wrong at all! We were shocked with the diagnosis as was her daycare director and our friends that had seen her the night before. Strong kid we have.
Now for some milestones or cute stories:
- Lauren officially moves to preschool on 3/31! She’s been visiting a lot and they say she’s doing great!
- She loves Ethan (Jerron and Megan’s son) so very much. She tells us probably everyday “I love Ethan”. She has a swing set in the backyard that has 2 swings and yesterday she declared that one is hers and one is Ethan’s. She was watching Sesame Street last week and they were talking about best friends and she looked at me and said “my favorite is my Ethan”. So cute!
- She’s doing awesome in gymnastics. She’s so excited for Monday’s!! It doesn’t hurt that she gets to see Ethan! As soon as they see each other, they go running to give each other a huge hug!
- Potty training was probably the easiest thing ever. She seriously didn’t have any accidents after that first day at daycare. She’s a pro at using the big toilet for both potty and poopy. She’s been napping in panties from the beginning and recently we’ve been putting her in panties at night bc she’s never had a wet diaper since we started! I’m sure there are many jealous parents out there! Lauren definitely has a perfectionist and determined side to her, she’s always wanting to do everything exactly how it “should” be done. For example, at gymnastics, they have these little felt feet prints and hand prints that they put on the beam or floor to show them where to place their hands/feet to do one of the stations…well, Lauren has to put her feet or hands *exactly* where the hand/feet prints are. It’s so funny to watch her get her feet placed perfectly to jump into the pit! She also hates to be dirty (freaks out if there’s mud or bird poo or something on the sidewalk and wants to be carried over it). So, I think those sides of her made her easy to “train” since she did it herself!
- We’ve been talking a lot lately about how her friends are having little brothers and sisters. So, she’s begun asking where her brother or sister is and then gets all sad and says she doesn’t have any. We’ve been telling her Brody is her brother and that seems to pacify her for awhile.
- Lauren is so excited about new clothes and shoes. She got to wear a new outfit that grammy bought her today to school with a headband and she was so proud to show everyone all day! One of her teachers, Ashley, told me that if her hair fell over her hair band, she’d adjust it saying “you can’t see my headband!” She was also really excited about her first gymnastics leotard on Monday, proudly showing it off to her friends at daycare before we left (I changed her there and she was quite the center of attention!), daddy, Ethan, and her coach. Yea! Mommy and grammy have another shopper in the family!
