Is it possible that our little girl is only 3 short months away from turning 2?? We just love the little person she’s becoming and here’s some of the reasons why.

- Watching Brody catch balls or bounce them off his snout makes her giggle uncontrollably.

- Whenever she has an ouchie, we ask her what happened and her response, along with a pouty face, is always “meow”. My mom’s cat scratched her one time, over 2 months ago! That damn cat that follows her around everywhere! ;)

- She does really good counting from 1-12. Still working on her abc’s.

- She’s now jumping!!

- She is so lovey and loves to give tons of kisses and hugs. Our favorites are when she just leans over and kisses you for no reason.

- She started sorta galloping over the last week. It’s totally cute to watch.

- Her favorite words? “I help”, “me help”, and “me do it”. We’ve also started getting “my turn” quite a bit. Definitely no independent streak there!!

- Tells everything bye when we leave. When we leave the house she says “bye home, bye brod”; when we leave the petting zoo she yells “bye animals!”; when we leave the playground it’s “bye playground”; and when we leave a restaurant she yells “bye eat!”.

- Loves all animals. She loves the part at the petting zoo where she can go in with the goats. She runs and tackles them, holds on to their tails, chases them, you name it!

- Likes to tell secrets. I tell her a secret like “go hug dada” and she runs and hugs him and comes running back with her hand to her ear.

- Has finally started eating some meat. We can usually get chicken nuggets in her.

- Finally, her vocabulary is amazing!! She has way too many words and signs for me to count. We’re regularly getting full sentences!

Other than the fun things posted above, we had one scary moment in the last month. We took her camping to Clinton Lake and had a blast! She went to sleep in the tent at 10 and when we went in at 12am, she was having a really bad asthma attack (wheezing, trouble getting a deep breath, and awful sounding cough). We took her to the bathhouse and got a breathing treatment in her (we had her nebulizer and rescue meds with us) and called her pediatrician and they wanted us to take her to the hospital since she’s so young and hasn’t had asthma very long and it was her first attack. The rescue meds and getting her out of nature seemed to do the trick and she was doing better by the time we got to the hospital. They said they could hear a touch of what we must have heard, but that the meds had done the trick. They gave her another breathing treatment, told us that it was a reaction to something out there whether it be flower, plant, tree, or campfire smoke, and that our camping days are over. We were sad to know that she has other triggers to her asthma besides it just being viral (associated with colds which is what most kids this age have), but we were glad to be able to get rescue meds in her quickly and to be close to home.

In other news, the new Canterbury Academy school is opening a mile from our house and she’ll start there next week. We started with Canterbury knowing we’d move to the one closer to us as soon as it opened (her current one is 10-15 mins away, in the wrong direction from our offices). We’re really excited to get an hour of our day with Lauren back, but nervous about how she’ll adjust to being at her new school (although the building is identical) and being away from her best friend Alli who she’s been with since they were 8 months old.

We’re really enjoying our summer spending a lot of time outside, going for walks, playing at the park, swimming in her baby pool, and going to the petting zoo! Summer is much more fun with a toddler! =)
