Can you believe Lauren is 9 months old??!! I’ve enjoyed every minute so much and it just keeps getting more fun! As I posted, she started crawling on Monday, just shy of 9 months. A few days later, and she has the hang of it a bit more and is getting faster…we’ll be putting up baby gates and babyproofing this weekend!
Lauren had her 9 month well baby visit today at her pediatrician’s office and here’s the stat update:
Weight - 17lb 3oz, 25%
Length - 27″, 30%
Head Circumference - 75%
She’s a petite little girl! She cut her front, top 2 teeth a few weeks ago at 8.5 months (she got the first 2 bottom ones at 6.5 months), for a total of 4 teeth. However, the dr. today showed me that she has cut 2 more top teeth, we didn’t even know! So at 9 months, we have 6 teeth!
Lauren is a really good eater, she’ll eat anything you put in front of her and will eat anytime you offer! She’s still eating her baby cereal and jar foods but is starting to eat some table foods as well (bananas, green beans, mashed potatoes, cantelope, etc.) The dr. gave us the ok today to start a little whole milk and to continue to introduce more table foods, giving her a little from our plates during our meals. By the time she is 1, she’ll be on 100% table food and whole milk!
One of Lauren’s favorite things to do is talk! Being my child, I know that’s shocking! =) She’s been making a huge variety of vowel-consonant sounds since 7.5 months (ba, bo, ma, da, ga, oi, etc). There’s also the possibility that she’s saying her first word….mama! She’s used it a few times over the last month when she gets upset and I’m leaving the room she’ll call after me “mamama”. Apparently she’s reserving for when she’s really upset, because she’s never said it otherwise!
Lauren has been giving kisses for a few months (wide, open mouth kisses!) but it is her new favorite trick for the last few weeks. Earlier this week, Lauren and Brody were sitting beside eachother on the floor and we said “Lauren, give Brody a kiss” and she leaned over and kissed his paw! How cool that she knows his name! She gives us kisses all the time now and when we read her favorite book “Moo, Baa, La La La”, she always kisses the cow when we get to the last page. Who knows why! Tonight when I was bathing her, she was leaning over and kissing her bathwater! Of course that was very closely supervised!
She’s really liking doing things with her hands, too. A few weeks ago she started “giving us 5″. This week we noticed she’s started clapping (it’s been a big week!). She’s been waving since about 4 months, but now it seems to have a purpose..she’ll wave “hi”, but most of the time it’s “bye”.
After much deliberation, we decided to change Lauren’s daycare. She is now in a Montesorri program at an “infant academy and preparatory school”. It’s about 10-15 minutes from our house, but they are in the process of building a new school 1 mile from our house! We can’t wait for her to be that close to home, they should be open next Spring. Billy’s office is actually relocating to 2 miles from home, Lauren will be between home and his office, it’ll be awsome for them! She had the expected adjustment period as she’d been with Vicki since 3 months old and was very attached, but she seems to be doing much better this week (her 3rd week), there is one teacher, Miss Emily, that she seems particularly fond of (she has dark hair, Lauren has always been partial to brunettes!).
I haven’t updated the pictures in about a month, but have a TON to upload. Look for those this weekend!
