We had Lauren’s 8 month pictures taken today and I think they turned out really cute! There are a few of my favorites, but check out the others in the gallery!

I can’t believe that Lauren is already 7.5 months! She just gets more fun each day. Here’s an update!

teeth - She broke both of her bottom teeth at 6.5 months. We keep thinking the top ones are trying to come through, but haven’t peaked through yet.

food - Lauren is eating cereal and fruit (baby food) for breakfast, veggies and meat for lunch, and veggies, meat and fruit for dinner. She really likes veggies and fruit…her favorites are the yellow veggies, squash and sweet potatoes. Her favorite fruit so far is definitely pears, she can’t get enough! She also really likes her cereal, any kind; rice, oatmeal, mixed, or barley. However, she doesn’t care for the plain meat (turkey, chicken, etc) but LOVES the mixed ones…especially broccoli and chicken! Something cute is that when she’s full, she shakes her head no! I think we have a smart baby! We have given her a few bites of table food (cucumber, pickle, crackers), but not much. She has her baby finger food (tiny rice puffs that dissolve quickly) but she has no clue what to do with them and just holds them in her hand.

moving - Lauren’s starting to think about moving. She’s always hated being on her belly, but lately she’ll actually stay that way for a bit and pull with her arms to move forward a bit. Just yesterday, she started pulling her knees up under her belly a bit. She’s been sitting really well since she was about 4.5 months and recently started sitting in shopping carts and she thinks that’s about the coolest thing ever!

talking - She’s been practicing her consonants with ‘a’ (ma, da, ga, etc). However, on Tuesday night, Billy picked Lauren up from Shane and Katie’s (they’d watched her that day) and she talked a blue streak all the way home and hasn’t stopped since! She’s incorporated all the vowels and consonants and is definitely having a conversation with us but we have no idea what she’s saying! It’s so cute hearing her tiny little voice!! From the looks of it, she’ll be talking long before she’s walking!

illness - In the last few months, Lauren has had a cold, then ear infection, then thrush, then another cold, ear infection and breathing treatment, pink eye, then another cold and ear infection. We realized the correlation was that it all started when she started swimming lessons, so we quit. We’ll take her to a warm pool this summer instead!

Other than that, she loves her book “Moo, Baa, La, La, La” and every night after she finishes nursing, she sits up and starts reaching for it and smiles as soon as I grab it. We’ve been working on sign language with her for several months and she recognizes “eat” and “book” (2 of her favorite things!).

That’s it for now…check out the most recent pics of Lauren (and Damon!) in the gallery.
